San Francisco
They say she is the European city in the United States. I do not know about that, but I sure had some fun. San Francisco was one of the places I went to from Redmond; this time we went for a three day weekend with my friend and flatmate Bartek. It was the Halloween weekend.
I knew that Halloween is a big thing in the States but I did not have a clue how big it actually was. Streets were literally filled with fairies, monsters, pirates, vampires, witches and hundreds of other traditional and less traditional characters. We went along to a pub crawl organised by the hostel and although I barely remember the details, I do remember that it was good. And suddenly... it was 2am. No, San Francisco is not at all like Europe. It is a Yankee city and a few cute cable cars won't change that. At 2am, the daily prohibition starts in all of California and most other of the United States, whether it's Halloween, New Year's Eve, or the fucking Armageddon day. Not like Europe at all.
The next day was interesting. Being forced to walk back to the hostel as early as 2am on the previous night we did not sleep in too long. And just as we left the hostel looking forward to a great day in the streets of San Francisco, it started to rain. It rained only once that day - for 24 hours non-stop. By the time the photo at the Golden Gate Bridge was taken (see below), there was not a single square centimetre of try cloths on my body. That includes all of it. Seriously. That night we went out again and a charming local girl told us that this was the first whole-day rain for 5 month. Very lucky. Again no lottery ticket though.
Next day had less rain. Although 5 mins of blue sky would have been absolutely enough to be able to say that there was considerably less rain than the day before, this time the weather was quite generous and the day was nice. We made a trip to Alcatraz and spent a lot of time walking around town which turned out to be a lot better when dry.
After a dinner and several quality beers in a local pub we made our way towards the airport. I was looking forward to the last few days in Redmond. I got to like that place but I knew that the skies would soon turn a lot more blue. My next trip was going to take me to L.A..

Thanks Greg, nice name! What a pity that you screwed up your niceness my joining the club of the idiots who try to spam my blog with links to commercial sites. No worries - I removed the link quickly. You are welcome to hate me and to post shit about me, I won't touch it. But to all who try to turn this place into a link farm, I say only only: Fuck Off!
