Race Results 2009/2010

Keywords: , .

Just catching up on the race results form the last season (Summer 2009/2010) - mainly for archiving purposes:

The season finished a while ago and if I was still in Australia, I'd be preparing for the new season right now. I do not really remember many race details and I will save myself the effort to remember the specifics. In fact, I had even trouble remembering a list of all the races I did during the season.

So here is request to all my friends who happen to read this: If you know a race where I took part that is not listed here, please let me know! (Comment of this post, email or in any other way.)

To quickly sum up the progress of the season: After the half marathon in October, I started strong and motivated. The plan was to do all of the races of the Gatorade triathlon series and a few more events. Overall, I did what I planned to. However, briefly after New Year I went heads down into writing up my thesis. During that time, my lifestyle was anything but healthy. I did hardly any exercise, was working 100+ hours per week sitting down, breaking only to eat, sleep and smoke. Understandably, my fitness deteriorated, so my peak performance occurred in the middle of the season, rather than the end. In addition, some races were not well placed in the calendar. For instance, before the 3.2km swim across the Port Phillip Bay, I was scuba-diving all day and most of the night and had just over 3 hours of sleep.

Nevertheless, I felt much more confident and in control compared to the previous season. I am now experienced and the times and placements show that if I put in the effort to train regularly, I can confidently place in the top 50% of my age group (whether or not I actually do put in that effort is a different story :) )

Anyway, without further ado, here is the deal:

Melbourne is really an awesome city for outdoor sports! I miss it a lot. But I am also looking forward to new challenges and adventures!

Yeah, that tolltay helps! And, I need to re-evaluate even some of my written goals for this season. A lot of them are time-oriented, and it isn't helpful or even sane. Thanks for the wise words!
